WKU student from Shepherdsville to appear on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Western Kentucky University student is making a play for some major cash this week.
Rebecca Price, a WKU sophomore from Shepherdsville, will appear this week on the popular game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"
The College Heights Herald reports Price's episode will air this Thursday. The publication also reported that Price said she has been a fan of the show since third grade, saying she started watching at her grandmother's house.
Price said she completed an application to appear on the program after receiving encouragement from her family. Three days later, she was contacted by show producers to set up an interview. In July, Price traveled to Las Vegas to shoot her episode.
Price said she prepped for her appearance by watching episodes of the show on YouTube, adding that one of her favorite past times is trivia.
“Just trivia, trivia everywhere,” she said. “That’s just something that I enjoy doing.”
Price said she met with other contestants and the show's producers for 13 hours the day before her episode was taped. She said the experience was unique.
“It’s just surreal, being on the stage. It just means the world to me that I was even able to have this opportunity,” she said.
She took her roommate, fellow WKU sophomore Kate Bowley, with her to Las Vegas.
“I’m really proud of her for putting herself out there," Bowley said. "It was a really big step for her."
There's no word on how much money Price won during her appearance on the show.
You can watch Price's appearance on the show at 1 p.m. Thursday on WDRB.
