LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a Louisville woman accused of choking her 10-year-old son.

According to court documents, it happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of S. 39th Street, not far from Bells Lane and Algonquin Parkway.

That's where officers were called to investigate a report of trouble. When police arrived, a woman who identified herself as the boy's aunt said 34-year-old Cassaundra Fitsgerald was drinking before she choked her son.

Police say the boy had bruises and nail marks around his neck. The arrest report states that "it was obvious he had been strangled."

The boy told police he couldn't breathe, and said he "saw sparkling specks while being strangled."

Fitsgerald now faces charges of wanton endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor and criminal abuse.
