23-year-old man arrested in connection with Louisville toddler's accidental shooting
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 23-year-old man arrested in connection with a 4-year-old boy's accidental shooting Wednesday night has been arraigned.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Corey Toogood at a court appearance Friday morning.
Police say he hid the gun in the home where the boy shot himself in the face. Spokesperson Alicia Smiley says Toogood admitted to officers that he hid the gun in a bedroom. Police say the gun was stolen from Campbellsville, Kentucky.
According to the arrest report, Toogood told police he hid the black Smith & Wesson under a mattress in the bedroom. Police say Toogood claimed he bought the gun from "an unknown subject."
Officers arrived at the home in the 1200 block of Liberty Court at the Beecher Terrace Apartment Complex around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to find the boy with a graze wound to the face.
He was taken to Norton Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Toogood is charged with receiving stolen property and violation of an EPO/DVO. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
